I don't know about this whole EPIC, and Steam stuff. But as someone who is studying economics as minor. I couldn't but just laugh at the point you tried to make using Ouya & PS4. Only idiotic, and brainwashed consumer base will fear competition. If Epic is so inferior then why are you so worried? Sooner or later, people will flock back to Steam. If you were so assured about Steam's quality, and EPIC's inferiority. Why even make this post? Why not let time do it's thing. Instead of looking like an idiot shouting at passersby? You could've made your point about EPIC without sounding like a fanboy who is threatened by a little competition. Sorry, but that's exactly how I viewed this post.

Ok let's put it this way... Who else competes with Steam? You're all telling me how there's competition out there and Steam ain't the de facto monopoly. Where's that competition? Who's services are so good that steam feels threatened and get's it's shit together?

Epic is a big steaming pile of shit, personal opinion. But...the whole crunch thing is a symptom of the corporate work environment, and not only corporate, to be more precise. Companies love forcing their employees to work overtime, always with the excuse of not "putting the gun to your head", but you suddenly get fired if you don't do it. Been there, know how it feels. The AAA gaming industry is a powder keg of poor work conditions, corporate shenanigans, and customer indifference. If you really care, as many claim, stop buying from such companies.

Fun fact: At its beginning, Steam wasn't that great either. It become good thanks to many updates. And for those who might want to tell me "Why didn't Epic chose to release their store with X features?!", here is my answer: Spiral model. Or if you prefer the long version: It can be really risky to wait for the final version of a solfware. There are multiple reasons. For example, if you wait until the software is completed, then you won't gain any money before that, or if the software don't attract enough clients, then you will lose all your investment. By using the spiral model, you can already cut your losses if the software doesn't work. You will be able to win some money and use it to improve the software. You will be able to check if the clients like/dislike an update and revert it if necessary.

If Epic really is so bad and evil how come not once has anyone shared credible sources to news stories? All I hear is people bitching but noone sharing news stories detailing these horrible acts? Just seems to me like steam fanboys whining that their monopoly is being challenged

That's a terrible comparison. PS4 already has competition in both Xbox and PC. If PS4 was the only gaming platform to exist in the world DAMN RIGHT it would need competition. The Ouya on the other hand would never have been considered competition for PS4 because it's a different kind of system running different types of games targeting a different audience. Not because of its lackluster quality. What I would like to know is which legitimate competition you seem to be dreaming of. The only good one I know is GoG, and I love GoG but reality has shown that it's not the competition for Steam that we need.

Wait, who's saying Epic is Psyonix' saviour? Seeing how Epic's announcement of the purchase heavily suggested they'd pull Rocket League from Steam, I'm not certain anyone has even said that.
